Amanda & Doug: Old-school Romantics

What made Amanda and Doug’s wedding unique was its combination of quaint elegance and the merging of old and new. Amanda’s dress “Pearl” was created by local designer Lea-Ann Belter. Its delicate French lace and classic shape tied in nicely with the vintage elements of the wedding decor and details, including the gorgeous antique brooch bouquets that the bride and maid of honor created themselves. The floral arrangements were simple but elegant in white — coupled with white tea lights, they blended beautifully with the rustic charm of the 19th century schoolhouse.

Throughout the wedding there were plenty of sweet touches and thoughtful details, from the vintage Rolls Royce (circa 1949) that the bridal party arrived in, to Amanda being walked down the aisle by her 95-year-old grandfather. Adding to the charm were escort cards in the form of handmade book marks for each guest, a wishing tree in lieu of a guest book, a midnight candy buffet complete with old-timey licorice whips and penny candy held in vintage apothecary jars, and a lucky penny hidden under the plate of one guest at every table (which meant they got to take home the floral center piece). Overall, the ceremony and reception captured the whimsical and antique sensibilities that Amanda and Doug set out to create.
