Sweet & Stylish Wedding Dessert Trends
Gone are the days when a chocolate fountain was enough to impress your wedding guests (thank goodness, right?!). Modern couples are looking to create sophisticated, memorable experiences for their wedding guests, and the food they serve plays a large part in that–especially when it comes to dessert.
Wedding desserts have never been more stylish. As Franck Point, owner and Master Artisan of Faubourg Paris, a trio of boulangerie patisseries in Vancouver, Canada says, “the trend has gone from formal, traditional cakes to individual bite-size desserts, such as cupcakes, mini pastries and macarons.”
Many couples are moving away from serving a plated dessert at the end of a sit-down dinner. Instead, they’re opting for gourmet serve-yourself dessert stations, such as candy buffets and ice cream or crepe stations, that allow guests to customize their dessert. “People want choice in their wedding dessert spread, from flavor profiles to eating times,” says Point. Guests with a serious sweet tooth can visit the dessert table multiple times throughout the evening, if they wish!
Requests for monogrammed French macarons are “wildly popular” among Point’s wedding clientele. Customizing these elegant Parisian treats with a couple’s initials is a stylish way to personalize a dessert table. Point does acknowledge that any customization requests will rack up the cost of a couple’s dessert bill. So, if you’re looking to create a memorable dessert experience but want to save a few dollars, Point suggests that you skip customization and opt for a pre-designed menu that reflects your personal taste and works with your wedding theme.
