Wedding Makers: Whimsical Peter Rabbit Theme

Inspired by spring, Peter Rabbit, and a pet bunny, wedding designer Cari Wible of Pink Parasol and a team of talented vendors in Austin, Texas, produced this adorable wedding shoot full of great ideas for incorporating a charming theme into your event. Photographer Amy Lynn of Al Gawlik Photography captured it in these gorgeous images.

“Like most little girls do, I loved having tea parties with my fairytale friends as a child,” says Cari. “With spring just around the corner, I thought it would be great to marry one of those childhood favorites with the vibrancy of the season. After meeting Amy’s adorable pet rabbit, Lola, I knew Peter Rabbit was the perfect story to bring it all together.”

The shoot illustrates how you can incorporate a theme into your event in both subtle and obvious ways. Combining flowers with vegetables and berries (bunny food!) creates arrangements with rich colors and textures. A gown with a blush of pink is a beautiful choice for spring and reminiscent of girlhood. A vintage hutch evokes a fairytale country home and makes a charming presentation for table assignment cards; the tables are named after elements of the story, and discreet signs identifying them are tucked into the floral arrangements.

“Bringing a theme to an event can be tricky,” warns Cari. “You want to make sure you bring in enough elements that the theme is apparent, but you don’t want to over-do it and cheapen the experience. I usually try to find a few of the more subtle nuances of the story to integrate into the decor—whether it’s having invitations or specialty drinks that lend themselves to the theme, or something as simple as carrot cake because we know Peter Rabbit would like that!”

Imaginative photos of the details of your wedding day can add up to an album that tells the story beautifully.
